“I cannot discount the idea they would be recruiting for Syria, but in targeting Kenya I don’t see any connection, even remotely,” he said.

Mustafa Ali, an expert in conflict resolution and violent extremism in Kenya, said an anthrax attack in Kenya was “less likely, but then it was less likely the US would be attacked in that way in 2001″, referring to a series of attacks that left five people dead.

He said the aim of IS is to create terror anywhere they are able to carry out attacks.”

Yet the FBI either does not expedite requests relating to the Fall 2001 attacks or months pass even upon expedition.

If a mass attack is conducted by the pair at large, Congress may decide to call an FBI witness and ask about this failure to act expeditiously.

Where are the Michael Scheuers of the world, who would come in a 4 a.m. and have things racked and stacked by the time the world woke up. Because it mattered and people were counting on him.

Kenya police ‘foil anthrax attack’ by ‘IS-linked group’

    • 4 May 2016
    • Kenyan police say they have foiled a “large-scale” biological attack using anthrax, by a terror group with links to so-called Islamic State (IS).

A man, his wife and another woman have been arrested. Rewards have been offered for two other men.

Police did not name the network, but said it stretches across the country and outside its borders, including to Somalia, Libya and Syria.

There was no immediate independent confirmation.

But there is no detail as to the group’s name, nor evidence for its affiliation to IS.

A group calling itself Jahba East Africa has recently emerged and pledged allegiance to IS, but it is not known if they are connected to the “foiled terror plot”, as police described it.

There is a split within the Somalia-based militant Islamist group al-Shabab over allegiance to either al-Qaeda or IS.

While there are thought to be some IS-linked militants fighting in Somalia, Emmanuel Kisiangani from the Institute for Security Studies in Nairobi believes it is unlikely they would target Kenya.

“I cannot discount the idea they would be recruiting for Syria, but in targeting Kenya I don’t see any connection, even remotely,” he said.

Mustafa Ali, an expert in conflict resolution and violent extremism in Kenya, said an anthrax attack in Kenya was “less likely, but then it was less likely the US would be attacked in that way in 2001”, referring to a series of attacks that left five people dead.

He said the aim of IS is to create terror anywhere they are able to carry out attacks.

Ken, documentary producer Elliot Halpern has won some long-form investigative journalism and documentary awards.

    He did

    Camp X: Secret Agent School

While I would love and relish the opportunity to pitch yap films and have made into a documentary one of various treasure hunts I love, like

Dutch Schultz in Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1935 : his horses, his hiding places, and his missing millions

or the Isabella Gardner paintings (in the event Team Lulu beats the others to the paintings first),

We should at least let Elliot have the benefit of ongoing FOIA productions in real time if he ever expresses an interest.

He, to his credit, enjoys learning from History. And someone who appreciates documentary research likely understands the value of documentary evidence in reconstructing events.

    1. Terror suspect in Brooklyn court accused of high-level ties to Al Qaeda, other terrorist groups

    BY John Marzulli
    Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Harun is a high value captive because he has had contacts with a who’s who of Al Qaeda officials, including military commander Abdul Hadi; operations chief Abu Faraj; Ramzi bin al-Shibh; Ahmed Ghailani, Abu Zubaydah; and propaganda shill Adam Gadanh.

Harun “has extraordinary connections to Al Qaeda, including to several of its most significant leaders, some reportedly deceased, others in custody at Guantanamo Bay, and to at least two other jihadist terror organizations,” the feds say.

In addition to admitting many of his crimes, he has demanded return of his Koran, and wants a military trial at Guantanamo. “F— you judge…I am a warrior and the war is not over. Our terrorism is not over,” he told Judge Edward Korman in open court, according to papers.

This is what the FBI is withholding and keeping secret from Dillon while purporting to be complying with FOIA:

The Chair of the Dangerous Pathogens 2000 conference at which the Al Qaeda scientist’s Rauf Ahmad’s research on killing mice with anthrax was presented, worked at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Center while advising the FBI’s Amerithrax Investigation ; the paper Dr. Baillie presented was co-authored with sequencer of the Ames strain
Posted by Lew Weinstein on November 16, 2014

The FBI has known since 2001 that a paper at the 2000 UK conference chaired by the lone non-US Amerithrax advisor Les Baillie, explained how Al Qaeda’s anthrax lab scientist Rauf Ahmad had killed mice with 100 injected spores.

    FBI Director Comey in Buffalo

Comey says ISIS presence on Twitter has diminished “significantly”…

“Trying to spot and assess people and if they’re on a path towards violence to disrupt them,” he said.

“No, and the only reason I hesitate is in any investigation of intense public interest, whether it involves a public figure. Involves some horrific crime. San Bernardino is a great example. We feel a great sense of urgency to do it well and to do it promptly,” Comey explained. “I wouldn’t say the concerns are any different in any of the high profile cases. And the reason is good people want to know. There’s intense interest in investigations like that.

FBI Director Comey, you missed the warm weather — got here just in time for the snow to return.

I know you believe what you are saying but, respectfully, it is simply not true — at least it is not borne out by the FBI’s processing of paper under FOIA.FN

Have an assistant look into the decisions by Dave Hardy (FBI FOIA) and his 60 staff on expedition of FOIA requests relating to Amerithrax, to include these critically important (couple of) notebooks by Bruce Ivins.

The FBI has refused to expedite these and other FOIA requests on the subject. (Consider the pending request by Ken Dillon). The FBI has caused many years of delay — and caused basic information to be withheld relating to the traditional tests (that, by the way, are exculpatory of the late Bruce Ivins).

Vahid Majidi and his former colleagues have not been moved to produce the traditional forensic reports in Amerithrax — and are not moved to expedite the pertinent FOIA requests. Vahid Majidi says he is not worried (see his ebook that he links to his former colleagues through Linked In). He wrote that he knows that his friend and former supervisor (you) has his back — see his ebook where he says this. So forgive me if I dismiss your claim as merely good PR. I mean, it’s good that the organization has such good PR. Director Comey and Director Mueller have both been excellent at such public relations.

But the delay in processing Amerithrax FOIA requests speaks for itself.

And I’ll still be around to point these sorts of things after Al Qaeda and ISIS conduct mass attacks in the US. Dr. Ayman is that way. He finishes what he sets out to do.

p.s. FBI Director Comey, the public library has a book that gives express instructions on how to kill people. On Friday, I asked the (Library) Director that it be removed. I never heard back. There are 3 copies. It would help reduce violence in Syracuse if the library did not promote such (very very specific) knowledge. It makes the infamous “cookbook” — also, I’m told, at Central — pale in comparison.

p.s.s. I told the Onondaga County Public Library Director (via an assistant) on Friday that I would be contacting law enforcement and the County Legislative Chairman if it was not promptly removed. So, local Syracuse FBI, consider this the notice of the request. The (Library) Director may not listen to me but would act promptly if she got a simple call from the Syracuse FBI. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the First Amendment. It is a matter of simple common sense.

FN/ I’m such a big fan of the FBI (dating back to Michael Mason’s tour of duty as head of Amerithrax) that critics derided me with the nickname “FBI fanboy.” So I think I’m pretty unbiased — and I know foot-dragging in civil discovery when I see it.

I just found that my co-worker clerk for a federal appellate judge and then at a large DC law firm — Mary D — was advising the Obama National Security Council.

Hey, Mary, have you seen what the FBI is withholding? Because it was withheld on Obama’s watch (after being withheld under his predecessor’s watch).

Sometimes when people have differences it is because they are not on the same page.

Obama, world leaders urge action on nuclear security, terror

By Josh Lederman and Darlene Superville | AP April 2 at 3:48 AM
WASHINGTON — World leaders declared progress in safeguarding nuclear materials sought by terrorists and wayward nations, even as President Barack Obama acknowledged the task was far from finished.

Closing out a nuclear security summit on Friday, Obama warned of a persistent and harrowing threat: terrorists getting their hands on a nuclear bomb. He urged fellow leaders not to be complacent about the risk of catastrophe, saying that such an attack by the Islamic State or a similar group would “change our world.”

So far, no terrorists have obtained a nuclear weapon or a dirty bomb, Obama said, crediting global efforts to secure nuclear material. But he said it wasn’t for lack of the terrorists trying: Al-Qaida has sought nuclear materials, IS has deployed chemical weapons and extremists linked to the Brussels and Paris attacks were found to have spied on a top Belgian nuclear official.

    Dr. Dillon:

I officially announced on twitter that the Army was going to provide the key Ivins’ lab notebooks soon. (And I know John Peterson and JAG would never disappoint me).

Query whether we should announce smoking guns by twitter.

I’ve never been on twitter on the subject of Al Qaeda and anthrax — indeed, I had never been on twitter. Joined just a week or so ago to promote a very narrow unrelated cause.

But it is something to consider. A twitter feed could consist solely of uploaded single page documents produced under FOIA or the wonderful graphics produced by the graphic artist.
