I’ve heard about the ongoing genetic studies to identify the source of the Ames strain. I have “Dugway Ames” spores that were made by Dugway and sent to us in 1997 for challenge studies. (We have a hard-copy record of them, when we got them, how much of them has been used (and when). All of the spores are accounted for.) I also have frozen down the “USAMRIID Ames” seed stock from the early 1980s. If needed for genetic analysis or sequencing by whomever, my lab could provide both “Dugway Ames” strain material as well as “USAMRIID Ames” strain material.

The previous month, in an email dated November 13, 2001, Ivins identified the location of Ames sports sent from Dugway used in aerosol experiments. He said that they were in the B3 cold room. Other Ames store in freezer MMCN F2063, which was in the freezer in the hall. Additional Ames spores were kept in the refrigeator in B313.
