Other notable attacks against Congress include an anthrax scare in September 2011, when someone mailed deadly anthrax spores to two Democratic senators, Tom Daschle of South Dakota and Tom Leahy of Vermont, as well as several media outlets. The senators were not injured, but five other people died in the incident.
