A man claimed he altered the course of a flight after hacking the in-flight entertainment system

“I find it really hard to believe but if that is the case he deserves going to jail,” wrote Jaime Blasco, director of AlienVault Labs in a tweet.
“You cannot promote the (true) idea that security research benefits humanity while defending research that endangered hundreds of innocents,” wrote Alex Stamos, chief information security officer of Yahoo.
Mr Roberts said he was concerned that the warrant application had been made public.
“My biggest concern is obviously with the multiple conversations that I had with the authorities,” he told Wired.
“I’m obviously concerned those were held behind closed doors and apparently they’re no longer behind closed doors.”
He said one paragraph in the affidavit regarding his alleged hacking of the United Airlines flight had been taken out of context.
“That paragraph that’s in there is one paragraph out of a lot of discussions, so there is context that is obviously missing which obviously I can’t say anything about,” he said.
“It would appear from what I’ve seen that the federal guys took one paragraph out of a lot of discussions and a lot of meetings and notes and just chose that one as opposed to plenty of others.”

When is Yazid Sufaat’s trial? I don’t feel comfortable asking his daughter or wife — and don’t have contact info handy for his attorney.

Here is the solution to a 9/11 “wedding photo mystery.”

CIA and FBI Knew Rauf Ahmad harvested “anthrax spore concentrate” for Al Qaeda for experiment on guinea pigs on “7-4-001″ [which is April 2001] – handwriting on anthrax spore concentrate is same as handwriting of Rauf Ahmad in correspondence planning anthrax lab with Ayman Zawahiri

On unsolved mysteries for the New Year, if missing airplanes, religious cults and sexual deviants are proving wearisome, you might consider:

      Isabella Gardner paintings

You could put in an advance order for the veteran Isabella Gardner reporter Steve Kurkjian who has learned a lot since starting on the matter in 1997. There is a $5 million reward. I’ve promised him I’ll take him out to dinner with the reward money for recovery of the $500 million in paintings. This blog had uploaded the FBI’s 302s but since has taken them down. I am eager to hear Steve speak here in mid-February. Expect a publicity push in March by the FBI and museum on the 25th anniversary of the heist.

      Forrest Fenn treasure

A Beautiful World: Millionaire Forrest Fenn leaves clues to hidden treasure. I recommend going to Yellowstone and just enjoy some hiking without sweating the too-general clues or being out gas money. But his folksy charm, the beauty of the great outdoors, and the elegance of his rhyming clues makes for an enjoyable hunt.

      Loomis Gang

But if you want a diamond in the ruff, with a more reliable prospect of recovery (if you’ll be satsified with a rusty horseshoe) — consider whether Wash Loomis had wealth hidden in Nine Mile Swamp in Central New York. The hypothesis is that he wasn’t running a mult-state counterfeiting, robbery and horse stealing ring for the fun of it. The theory is the location of accumulated wealth died upon his precipitous death at the law man’s hands — it had gotten personal. The lesson is never threaten — that is just giving advance warning and giving your enemy moral justification to kill you. I like the documentary you now can hear for free on vimeo.

After years of off-and-on reading on the subject, at dawn this morning I finally found a description by a 1951 local columnist describing where Wash hid his stolen horses. That would be a good starting point to look for a hiding place of a metal box with gold.

The columinist writes (see writes: “If you come from the swamp on the direct road from Stockwell you reach the Sangerfield River. Along the east bank there is a slight elevation, perhaps a foot or so above the surrounding muck. You can go northward, and there are several glades that were at one time used to “store” stolen horses until the color could be changed and the animals moved on to Canada or other stations over Auburn way. The animals were usually brought in from Pennsylvania and the southern counties in New York after leaving their rightful owners.”

There are many many owners of the Nine Mile Swamp. I have retained local counsel and so feel free to contact me to clear permissions to search, to borrow a metal detector or aerial drone, or snag a companion. There are more poison plants than there are poison snakes (who in any event are hibernating). I hope to go tomorrow after the ground is frozen. All historical artifacts should go to the Waterville Historical Society, which has a connection to the wonderful 2002 documentary.

      Dutch Schultz’ missing millions –

Getman and Getman, Dutch Schultz in Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1935: his horses, his hiding places, and his missing millions

I favor the estimate of a chest with $40 million of valuables in it.

      Oak Island

Watch History Channel tonight at 9 p.m.. My theory 20 years in the making: 1761 construction by British engineer Patrick Mackellar; then the King, his cronies and the Keppel brothers deposited some of the loot plundered from Havana in 1762. Unfortunately, my theory is that the British recovered it in 1776 after evacuating Boston to go to Halifax.

I want each of these treasures and the solution to each of these mysteries. More than I wanted them yesterday.
