Dr. Bruce Ivins’ assistant, biosafety specialist Kristie M. Friend, in her civil deposition, describes shipment of Ames to Porton Down and the Canadian biodefense facility — and possibly to other non-government facilities, although she is not 100% sure those other shipments were Ames.

    She began in June 1999.

Note that the former Zawahiri associate supplied virulent Ames by Bruce Ivins — before Ms. Friend’s arrival — was not vetted by any security clearance whatsoever. His approval was made by email after he arrived. Prior to his arrival, Dr. Ivins was not even aware he was not a citizen.

The civil deposition of Kristie M. Friend in Maureen Stevens v. United States can be obtained by simple emailed request to attn: Attorney-in-charge James Kovakas. You might ask that it be provided in electronic form.

Here is a previous brief excerpt that Lew uploaded from the deposition of biosafety specialist Kristie Friend (with the brief excerpt found on PACER as an exhibit to a motion).

As I’ve mentioned, a simple emailed FOIA request will result in the full deposition being emailed or sent ordinary mail. For no especially good reason, I’ve been limiting myself to one deposition per request at a time and I have the request for Byrne pending.

It seems that before Dr. Russell Byrne’s deposition, it would be worth to upload the lengthy excerpt I have from the civil deposition testimony of the USAMRIID Commander Edward J. Eitzen. The Eitzen depo has a clear debunking of the 1992 incident, that reared its head in recent internet postings. (I have quoted passages under the Jahrling thread describing the powerpoint presentation he made to Colonel Eitzen on the subject in 2002).

Also, Colonel Eitzen addresses why there was no two-person rule or norm along those lines in Fall 2001,

Finally, Colonel Eitzen addresses the security clearance that was supposed to be required before any foreign national was allowed access to the Biocontainment Level 3. That procedure in fact was not followed in connection with the DARPA-funded experiment in the Spring of 1998 (before there were electronic access records but after RMR 1029 was created). Why wasn’t procedure followed? The FBI first obtained documents indirectly from Ivins about the access in March 2005 — which is crazy.

In the very lengthy portion of Eitzen depo to be uploaded, there are pages missing. That’s because it came from PACER rather than through FOIA. It was much longer than other deposition excerpts included as exhibits — and obtaining the missing pages is not a priority relative to obtaining the Byrne, Friend and Welkos depositions.

Jeffrey Adamovicz, Gerard Andrews, Patricia Worsham, Stephen Little, Russell Byrne, Susan Welkos are just some of those who have testified powerfully under oath.

Others have spoken powerfully in taped and recorded interviews. Dr. Heine, although not among those deposed, came forward as soon as he was able.

Army microbiologist Dr. Henry Heine, until now forbidden to speak, says … Ivins is absolutely not the anthrax attacker … it was impossible that the deadly spores had been produced undetected in Dr. Ivins’s laboratory, as the F.B.I. asserts … whoever did this is still running around out there

According to former co-worker of Ivins and former USAMRIID microbacteriologist Henry Heine, the science doesn’t seem to support Ivins’ guilt

All of these witnesses are powerful witnesses. Dr. Worsham was one of the first presenters before the NAS.

The next civil deposition to be uploaded, the testimony of Dr. Russell B., was yet another former Chief of Bacteriology.
