    Jdey knew Al-Hazmi. Did Moussaoui?

What has Yazid Sufaat told his questioners in Malaysia this past month about Nawaf Al-Hazmi?

Does Abu Ghaith agree with the FBI’s conclusion that in early November 2001, the crash of Flight 587 was due to pilot error? Or might he say it was a shoe bomb. One detainee says he was told that Jdey took down the flight with a shoe bomb.

“Investigators determine that the second worst aviation incident in U.S. history was caused by the pilot’s “unnecessary and excessive” use of the rudder. The report also cited that flawed training by the airline and poor rudder design were contributing factors.
“We [the families] still don’t believe the NTSB. I don’t believe it was the pilot’s fault. I’ve listened to the cockpit tape over and over again. He was trying to do his best to save that plane,” Lora explained. “No one in that cockpit sounded panicked – to me it’s still a mystery.”

Finally, I direct my words to the American secretary of state, who doubted our last statement and who belittled what we said about the thousands of Muslims ready for their death and that the storm of planes will not end. I say to him and others in the American administration who know that when al-Qaida promises, it delivers, God willing.

I say to him, those who are waiting for the future will find it soon. The storms will not stop. The storms of planes will not stop until you drag your defeated tails from Afghanistan, not until you raise your hands from the Jews in Palestine, not until you lift the embargo on the Iraqi people, not until you leave the Arabian peninsula, not until you stop supporting the Hindus against the Muslims in Kashmir.

We say to Muslims in America and Britain – to children and to those who resent this American policy – we advise them not to ride planes and not to live in high buildings. Pride to God and to believers, and the disbelievers will never know.”

Entire websites have been devoted to Abu Ghaith”s exhortations, as Al Qaeda’s spokesman, to kill civilians in the United States. While his 2010 book is key reading, his crimes are proved through his videos.

Web site featuring speeches from al-Qaida figure shut down

BYLINE: MATTIAS KAREN; Associated Press Writer

      DATELINE: STOCKHOLM, Sweden

A Web site that reportedly contained speeches by Suleiman Abu Ghaith, an alleged spokesman for al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, was shut down Tuesday by a Swedish Internet provider after the site was traced to its server.

Spray Network, a subsidiary of Lycos Europe, shut the site down after being informed of the site, said Fredrik Skaerheden, a Spray Network spokesman.

“We have a very clear policy that any material that in any way may urge or encourage criminal acts or violence is immediately removed,” Skaerheden told The Associated Press.

The Web site, http://www.members.lycos.co.uk/abugaith1, reportedly contained several audio files of Abu Ghaith giving speeches and sermons in Arabic, and contained several violent and bloody images. It was not accessible Tuesday night.

According to the Middle Easte Media Research Institute, or MEMRI, which first traced the site to the Swedish server, at least one of the sermons called for Muslims to give their lives to fight the United States.

A report on MEMRI’s Web site quoted the sermon as hailing bin Laden and describing the Jihad fighters as people who “seek death as others seek life and seek Allah’s promise in the Koran and sacrifice their property, their blood, and their lives as a sign of the sincerity of their faith.”

Anyone can create a Web site for free on Lycos’ servers, Skaerheden said, adding that many of the Lycos Europe member sites are hosted by Spray’s servers in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.

Abu Ghaith could be asked whether he ever used code in his videotaped statements as was suggested by some at the time.

Bin Laden taunts US with new suicide plane threats via videotape

The heavy US aerial bombardment of Afghanistan has signally failed to silence Osama bin Laden who taunted the world superpower again Sunday via a simple video message aired by an Arab television station.

The spokesman for his Al-Qaeda group warned of more hijacked jetliner attacks to come against the United States and Britain in a new incendiary statement couched in religious cant.

“The storm of airplanes will not be calmed, if it is God’s will,” bin Laden aide Suleiman Abu Ghaith said in a pre-recorded message broadcast in the early hours by the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera satellite station.

“The storm will not calm, especially as long as you (United States and Britain) do not end your support for the Jews in Palestine, lift your embargo from around the Iraqi people, and have left the Arabian peninsula, and stop your support of the Hindus against Muslims in Kashmir,” he said in Arabic.

The White House, also facing fears of bio-terrorism as cases of anthrax multiply, dismissed the threats as “propaganda”, but was clearly listening.
“It’s just propaganda,” White House spokeswoman Jennifer Millerwise told AFP, adding that the president’s office would issue no further comment at the moment.

Some officials have even suggested bin Laden is instructing followers via coded messagex within the statements.

Yazid denies he was at this meeting at his condo — saying he was already in Afghanistan. I will credit his denial.

Question: When Dr. Majidi and former US Attorney Taylor say that Dr. Ivins must be guilty because everyone else was excluded, do you think one could have confidence in US Attorney Taylor’s assessment at the August 8, 2001 press conference given that he was fundamentally wrong on key questions — such as the location of the lyophilizer, whether Dr. Ivins had reason to be in the lab those nights, and whether the stamp was sold just in Dr. Ivins’ post office or throughout Virginia and Maryland?

Look at the Amerithrax Investigative Summary. You’ll see that the word “rabbits” nowhere appears. Assuming AUSA Lieber wrote the summary, if she didn’t know about Dr. Ivins’ work with rabbits, why would you think she knows anything about equipment being delivered in Ft. Lee, New Jersey at the time Atta and the hijackers from Yazid Sufaat’s condo were making their flight reservations? She was pretty new to the matter and promptly started working on an “Ivins Theory.”

Do you think that most of these investigators are even privy to key leads that they say could be eliminated?

The Amerithrax Task Force did not cooperate or share information with the DIA analyst interviewing Dr. Batarfi.

Did they cooperate with NYPD intelligence?

      • DXer said

Did the FBI share a copy of the video of Atta and his colleagues at KINKOS? Did the FBI share a copy of the forensics report showing that a machine at KINKOS was used?

      • DXer said

The NYPD operation in New Brunswick was set up in an apartment building nearby 303 George St. Pictures of surveillance targets were taped to the wall.

Granted, it’s not the bag of stained panties like the FBI was excited about in Amerithrax. And of course the FBI fully complied with the constitution when they obtained Dr. Ivins’ consent to a DNA swab in July 2008 so that they could check his DNA against the DNA on the panties.

But why did the FBI think the panties were probative evidence in Amerithrax in the first place?

The FBI knew that Dr. Ivins had previously attempted suicide. Why would they be surprised that he would succeed on his next attempt? He had shook and cried in November 2007 when he first told them that they would find the panties — he needed to be sedated.

Then we have a CYA report issued by the psychiatrist who never told the federal judge that he had mistakenly relied upon a witness who was receiving her instructions each night from an alien who had implanted a microchip in her butt. The counselor in her 2009 book explains that she feared that nasty astral entities attached to her patients in her new part-time counseling gig were trying to kill her. She says she was protected from a psychiatric diagnosis by her husband who was in military personnel.

The FBI investigators — so eager to throw down the ball and do a victory dance — maybe should be slow to criticize David Cohen who faces a very grave challenge. He can’t afford to be wrong like the FBI can.

Here’s a thought question: If New York City is attacked in a mass aerosol attack using anthrax, how does the FBI think its “sorority theory / hide the 52 rabbits theory down into the hat” is going to hold up?

Mr. Sufaat, who now is available to interview, wrote the letter of introduction for Zacarias Moussaoui who in a court filing said he wanted anthrax for “jew sympathizers” only.

Can Mr. Sufaat shed any light about the business card that Zacarias had from Bangkok from Washington Suite? Were those the alias of Nawaf Al-Hazmi and Almihdhar from when they were there in early January 2000? FN/

Moussaoui had stayed at the same Kuala Lumpur condo owned by Yazid Sufaat as Nawaf Al-Hamzi and Khalid Al-Mihdhar. How did Moussaoui come to have that card? What was the background explained at the trial when it was introduced?

Sufaat was the fellow who Mr. Tenet in his book wrote was the “self-described CEO of anthrax”. Malaysian officials, in contrast, described him as the guy at the airport holding up the sign — with Hambali being in charge of the lab. One of Yazid’s assistants was said to be from Sudan and one from Egypt. Can Yazid tell us what happened to his assistants? (who were detained by the US). I recall there names to be Barq and Wahdan but I may be misremembering or mistaken.

Can he describe the interview with the FBI agents who interviewed him in November 2002? I had been posting on Sacramento alum boards in Spring of 2002 and so it was startling that President Bush says he did not know Sufaat’s connection to the anthrax lab until after KSM’s capture in March 2003.

    The 911 Commission Report explains:

“Mihdhar arrived [in Kuala Lumpur at Yazid Sufaat’s condo] on January 5, probably one day after Hazmi. All four operatives stayed at the apartment of Yazid Sufaat, the Malaysian JI member who made his home available at Hambali’s request. According to Khallad, he and Hazmi spoke about the possibility of hijacking planes and crashing them or holding passengers as hostages, but only speculatively. Khallad admits being aware at the time that Hazmi and Mihdhar were involved in an operation involving planes in the United States but denies knowing details of the plan.60

    ***

[Two operatives] were bringing Khallad money from Yemen, but were stopped in Bangkok because they lacked visas to continue on to Singapore. Also unable to enter Singapore, Khallad moved the meeting to Bangkok. Hazmi and Mihdhar decided to go there as well, reportedly because they thought it would enhance their cover as tourists to have passport stamps from a popular tourist destination such as Thailand. With Hambali’s help, the three obtained tickets for a flight to Bangkok and left Kuala Lumpur together.

In Bangkok, Khallad took Hazmi and Mihdhar to one hotel, then went to another hotel for his meeting on the maritime attack plan. Hazmi and Mihdhar soon moved to that same hotel, but Khallad insists that the two sets of operatives never met with each other or anyone else. After conferring with the ship-bombing operatives, Khallad returned to Karachi and then to Kandahar, where he reported on his casing mission to Bin Ladin.62

Bin Ladin canceled the East Asia part of the planes operation in the spring of 2000. He evidently decided it would be too difficult to coordinate this attack with the operation in the United States. As for Hazmi and Mihdhar, they had left Bangkok a few days before Khallad and arrived in Los Angeles on January 15, 2000.63

Hani and Nawaf on the Straight Path: Connecting the Kuala Lumpur, Falls Church and New Jersey Dots

Nawaf Al-Hazmi was one of the two hijackers who had been at the meeting at anthrax lab director Yazid Sufaat’s Malaysian condominium in January 2000. Nawaf Hazmi and a colleague had arrived the previous year in San Diego, where they had been unsuccessful in learning to fly. Upon arriving in San Diego in 2000, he met with Imam Anwar Aulaqi — perhaps even the same day as arriving. The 911 Commission Report said that Nawaf and his fellow hijacker and “developed a close relationship with him.” One pilot at the flight school in Arabic said that Nawaf wanted to learn to jets right away, rather than start with small planes. The pilot man thought Nawaf and his colleague, Khalid al-Mihdar, were either joking or dreaming. They were joined in San Diego by Hani Hanjour, a good friend of Nawaf’s from Saudi Arabia. Hani was the pilot of flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon. He was one of the most conservative and religiously observant of the hijackers.

Hani had first come to the United States in 1991. After short stay in the US in Tucson where he studied in English, he returned to Saudi Arabia until 1996, when he worked in Afghanistan for a relief agency. He took flight lessons in Phoenix, Arizona where he did poorly. He eventually earned his commercial pilot training in 1998. Hani had been at al-Qaeda’s al-Faruq camp when Bin Laden or Atef told him “to report to KSM, who then trained Hanjour for a few days in the use of code words.” Hani then met with Aafia Siddiqui’s future husband al-Baluchhi in United Arab Emirates. Al-Balucchi opened an account for Hani who then traveled to San Diego.

Aulaqi in early 2001 moved to Falls Church. Several months later, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid Almihdhar, who by then had joined them in San Diego in December 2000, also moved to Falls Church, Virginia. On April 1, 2001, Nawaf al-Hazmi received a ticket for speeding in Oklahoma, apparently while driving cross-country from San Diego to Falls Church, Virginia. Nawaf Alhazmi and Hani Hanjour rented an apartment in Falls Church, Virginia, for about a month, with the assistance of a man they met at Aulaqi’s mosque. They lived at 3355 Row St., Apt. 3 in Falls Church. The hijackers attended sermons at the Dar al Hijrah mosque, where Aulaqi was now located. Ali Al-Timimi attended the mosque until he established the nearby center. Police later found the phone number of the Falls Church mosque when they searched the apartment of 9/11 planner Ramzi bin al-Shibh in Germany. Various instructors have confirmed that Hani continued to have poor english and flying skills. Nawaf’s english and flying skills also remained poor.

On May 1, 2001, Nawaf reported to police that men tried to take his wallet outside a Fairfax, Virginia residence. Before the county officer left, al-Hazmi signed a “statement of release” indicating he did not want the incident investigated. Hani and Nawaf then moved to Paterson, New Jersey, renting a one-bedroom apartment where they lived with some of the other hijackers. On June 30th, his car was involved in a minor traffic accident on the east-bound George Washington Bridge. Hani was stopped by police on August 1, 2001 for driving 55 mph in a 30 mph zone in Arlington, Virginia. On August 22, 2001, Nawaf al Hazmi purchased a Leatherman Wave Multi-tool from a Target department store in Laurel, Maryland.

Hani and Nawaf moved out of the New Jersey apartment on September 1. Hani was photographed a few days later using an ATM with a fellow hijacker in Laurel, Maryland, where all five Flight 77 hijackers had purchased a 1-week membership in a local Gold’s Gym. On September 10, 2001, Hanjour, al-Mihdhar, and al-Hazmi checked into the Marriott Residence Inn in Herndon, Virginia where Saleh Ibn Abdul Rahman Hussayen, a prominent Saudi government official — who later was appointed to head the mosques at Mecca and Medina — was staying. He was the uncle of Sami al-Hussayen, the webmaster of the Islamic Assembly of North America (“IANA”).
