This is Lauren Ezell’s April 28, 2001 FOIA request that resulted in production in 3716, 4240, 4241.
The FBI should give back to USAMRIID all the notebooks that they took so that they can be produced under FOIA.
Under the same principle, all of the notebooks that the FBI saw fit to take and keep should now be produced under FOIA — or they can be simply given back to USAMRIID so that USAMRIID can comply with its FOIA obligation.

The mere fact that Frontline knew to request 4240 and 4241 shows the sophistication of their effort.
What was the disposition of their request for 4384?
Although they landed right on the mark as to 4240 and 4241, I hope they also obtain the remaining ones mentioned by Dr. Ivins that were not returned by the FBI. The FBI thought them relevant to Amerithrax.
Some will relate to distribution of the Ames strain from Flask 1029.

Notebooks are numbered sequentially. I believe 4383 was opened or started on 8/9/01. See FOIA room.
Thus, 4384 is of keen relevance given that it contains additional contemporaneous notes reflecting what Dr. Ivins was doing in the lab at about the time of the Fall 2001 anthrax mailings. I haven’t found a current email for Lauren to thank her for her excellent work and to ask her for the disposition of her request as to Notebook 4384. She was associate producer on the Emmy-nominated ANTHRAX FILES.

Frontlne is asking for Lab notebooks 3716, 4240, 4241, 4384,and computer files: B00-03, part 5.
USAMRIID previously uploaded 3745, 3919, 3921, 4000, 4103, 4237, 4281, 4306, 4383.
GAO should investigate how DOJ took the only copy of key notebooks.
Done in other contexts it constitutes obstruction of justice.
I’ve previously urged the view that any documents in the possession of USAMRIID’s lawyers in connection with the Stevens litigation are in its possession.
