So the next depositions to be uploaded likely are Dr. Ivins’ assistant, Kristie Friend (pending), Susan Welkos, Arthur Friedlander and two non-USAMRIID experts Hawley and
Arrison.
Above is a preview of Dr. Welkos’ testimony.

The NAS was expressly instructed NOT to address the scientific evidence that might bear on Dr. Ivins’ guilt or innocence. Dr. Majidi knew better than that.

This deposition — and not merely this brief excerpt — is available to any requester under FOIA directed to USAMRIID.

Dr. Vahid Majidi is not even a microbiologist. In his September 2013, in dismissing the opinion of these microbiologists who have worked with anthrax, what evidence is relying upon?
I see his repeated conclusory assertions, mirroring the Amerithrax summary, but where are the qualified experts?

In a “Official Use Only” briefing, an FBI scientist says did not work the hours he did in later years that he worked September 11-18.

A two-person rule implemented in January 2002 precluded that.

(Ivins in fact worked those hours in November and December 2001.)
The rabbit studies associated with the hours in September are discussed here. The FBI and DOJ withheld the documents relating to the rabbit studies but USAMRIID eventually produced them to me under FOIA.

So, we have MULTIPLE depositions from an array of persons with relevant scientific backgrounds saying that there’s little chance Ivins did the drying task at USAMRIID and that there’s not much to establish that Ivins had the full skill set to pull off Amerithrax in general. Not looking good for the government’s case!

Laurie Garrett writes:
“When the Daschle letter reaches Ft. Detrick, a team of 90 USAMRIID scientists, assembled virtually, awaits it. Their names and expertise are listed, and their willingness to assist in the FBI investigations noted. Collectively they represent the world’s top anthrax team, including Dr. Arthur Friedlander, whose animal studies of inhaled anthrax are the primary source of all medical treatment decisions for people suspected of having been exposed to the microbe. Friedlander has studied anthrax for 25 years. Also on the team are scientists John Ezzell, Stephen Leppla, Perry Mikesell, Bruce Ivins and Susan Welkos, who have co-authored many significant studies of anthrax toxins and vaccines, dating back to 1983. Ivins has been been working on anthrax since 1980.”

Since the URL is no longer available at the Sacramento Bee, here’s a contemporaneous story:
