    Dr. Majidi,

What was the point of this subtilis work if you then were not going to swab the suspect labs? Your scientific approach and decisions were truncated to conform to your conclusions based, as they were, on the claims of a counselor who thought she was controlled by an alien who had implanted a microchip in her butt — and gave her instructions at night.

You say that all scientific reports have been produced when in fact most have ben withheld — to include almost ALL traditional forensic analyses such as on the photocopy toner. You just disclosed report on the non-traditional microbial forensics — and didn’t even produce all the reports on those techniques. For example, you didn’t produce the documents relating to swabbing of suspect labs… if you had, the public and NAS would have understood that you in fact did NOT in fact swab the suspect labs.

Subject: Training and use of your LSRII? (UNCLASSIFIED)
    Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
    Caveats: NONE
    Dear
I would like my use the LSRII instrument in lab for
analysis of gamma-irradiation killed spores as part of the spore production team research objectives.
asked me to contact you about this. I have a published procedure used to correlate spore viability
in B. subtilis with autofluorescence. LSR II is the only FACS instrument in the institute having a uv
source laser for sample excitation, required for this intrinsic fluorescence test. None of 16 references I
looked at concerning FACS of B. anthracis spore indicated extraordinary need for post-use cleaning
(spores may be sticky?). However, we will dialyze the spore preparations into water be application to
remove their 1% phenol content. will need instrument training as has not used a FACS or your
    instrument.
Please contact me at your convenience so we can plan experiments.
    Sincerely,
    Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
    Caveats: NONE

In this regard, I would direct GAO’s attention to the report several months earlier, dated May 15 , 2006, titled “Multiple Locus PCR- based Assay for the Direct Comparison of unknown B . subtilis isolates to B . Subtilis New York Post.
