The surest way to put the AUSA’s and FBI’s focus on stained panties to the test is to put KSM and al-Hawsawi on trial.

In the indictment announced today of KSM, Al-Hawsawi and the others, the indictment mentions experiments in the use of biological weapons. What experiments in the use of bioweapons were conducted?

To understand the anthrax mailings and the timing of the letters to Senator Leahy and Senator Daschle, it is important to understand al-Hawsawi’s background — and who he knew from Khartoum when Bin Laden was based there and Mahjoub was manager of the farm there.

To not think that Senator Leahy would be targeted because he was liberal is really uninformed — ignorant even.

Documents from August 2001 show that the “Leahy Law” — relating to continued appropriations notwithstanding mistreatment by security forces where there are “extraordinary circumstances” — was very important to the salafist-jihadis and central to their reason announced in Spring 1999 that Dr. Ayman would be using anthrax in the future.

Note that Al-Marri’s indictment explains al-Hawsawi’s numerous other financial and phone contacts with Atta and the hijackers — and the phone records connect biochem operative Al-Marri also with al-Hawsawi. Any suggestion that there were no other operatives in the US is very uninformed — extremely ignorant. But it is Adnan El-Shukrijumah and Abderraouf Jdey who are of the most keen interest. (My interest in Al-Marri mainly centered on who he sent his computer to in Washington upon leaving the country).

Phone and Credit Files Link Student Held in New York to 3 Terrorism Figures

By JO THOMAS with CHRISTOPHER DREW

PEORIA, Ill — A Bradley University graduate student from Qatar who was arrested in January may have links through telephone records to three men named as conspirators in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, according to documents unsealed in federal court here.

The student, Ali Salem Kahleh al-Marri, is being held in New York on charges of unlawful possession of more than 15 credit cards, found on Dec. 11 in a search of his two-bedroom apartment in West Peoria. Neighbors said he was married and had small children. The landlord said the family had left the apartment.

An affidavit in support of the search warrant for the apartment provided a glimpse of possible connections between Mr. Marri, one of hundreds of people questioned in the terrorist inquiry, and Mohamed Atta, ringleader of the hijackers; Ramzi Muhammad Abdullah bin al-Shibh, a Yemeni who Americans apparently believe was at one time intended to be the 20th hijacker; and Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi, identified by investigators as a pivotal money provider for the hijackers.

About Sept. 23, the affidavit says, someone used a calling card at a pay phone here to try to call the same number in the United Arab Emirates that Mr. Atta gave Federal Express as a contact for a package that he sent there on Sept. 4 from the United States. The package was addressed to Almohtaram, Arabic for the respected one, the affidavit said. Mr. Atta’s phone calling card had also been used for calls to that number.

Someone else, unnamed in the affidavit, also used that number as a contact for a wire transfer of money on Sept. 3 to Mr. Shibh, who, officials say, also gave the hijackers money.

Five days later, Mr. Hawsawi provided that same number on a cash withdrawal slip from his account at the Standard Chartered Bank in the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Hawsawi, the affidavit says, had access to the account to which Mr. Atta and another hijacker, Marwan al-Shehhi, wired money shortly before Sept. 11.

The affidavit said the calling card used in trying to call the emirates on Sept. 23 was used again, on Sept. 27, by someone trying to call from Mr. Marri’s cellular phone. The same card was used again, on Oct. 14, to try to call the number in the United Arab Emirates from a pay telephone at a gasoline station in Springfield, Ill.

Another call to that number was tried on Nov. 4 from a pay phone at the Summit Hotel in Chicago by someone who was using a different calling card, one also used that day from Mr. Marri’s house. Mr. Marri told investigators that he did not know Mr. Hawsawi and that he did not call the number in the United Arab Emirates.

Richard Jasper Jr., Mr. Marri’s lawyer in the credit card case, emphasized that Mr. Marri had not been charged with any crime related to terrorism. Mr. Jasper said that the search of the apartment “obviously didn’t shed any light” on any connection and that the F.B.I. had no proof that Mr. Marri was using the calling cards to make the calls.

“I don’t know what an attempted call is,” the lawyer said, asking whether that meant that a busy signal or that a call did not go through. “That could mean that any number of inferences could be drawn that don’t have any malice aforethought.”

Mr. Marri was a Bradley student from 1987 until 1991, when he graduated with a B.S., a spokeswoman for the university, Kathleen Conver, said. He enrolled for the fall term last year as a graduate student in computer science.

As for Moussaoui, his letter of introduction, posted earlier this week, was from the anthrax lab head Yazid Sufaat, and the one providing him money was Hawsawi, the fellow with the scanned anthrax production documents on his laptop. The FBI kept secret for over a decade that at the same time Moussaoui was detained (and they didn’t get into this laptop containing the cropdusting material), Jdey was detained with bio books… and Jdey was released. How can Dr. Majidi say that Jdey was excluded if Dr. Majidi has no idea where Jdey was in September and October 2001? (once the FBI released him) Go ahead… ask him.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Plaintiff-Appellee, v. ZACARIAS MOUSSAOUI, a/k/a Shaqil, a/k/a Abu Khalid al Sahrawi, Defendant-Appellant. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF

      No. 06-4494

UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FOURTH CIRCUIT

      591 F.3d 263

      January 4, 2010, Decided

      *********

During Phase I, the Government presented extensive evidence regarding the conspiracies alleged in the Indictment, including evidence of the activities of the 9/11 hijackers and Moussaoui in the months preceding the 9/11 attacks, the similarities between Moussaoui’s actions and those of the 9/11 hijackers, and the overlap between the al Qaeda leadership directing them all. Moussaoui also testified, confirming his participation in the conspiracies.

Moussaoui testified that al-Masri asked him to be a part of the planes operation in the winter of 1999. Moussaoui ultimately agreed and began training for his mission, which was to fly a fifth plane on 9/11 into the White House. Moussaoui specifically denied he was scheduled to be a fifth hijacker on the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania, testifying that he signed the Statement of Facts as the “20th hijacker” as “a bit of fun,” “[b]ecause everybody used to refer to [him] as the 20th hijacker.” J.A. 3877.

When sent to Malaysia to obtain flight training, Moussaoui was hosted by members of Jemaah Islamiyah (hereinafter “JI”), an al Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group. Moussaoui testified that he had problems with JI [**30] when he was in Malaysia — he talked too much about his mission and was involved in an unnecessary purchase of explosives. Because of those problems, the al Qaeda leaders temporarily excluded Moussaoui from the planes operation. Although he was later re-included in the operation, his position remained under review. According to Moussaoui, time was of the essence and al-Masri told him to “just go to America” and that he would “be informed of what [he] need[ed] to know in due time.” J.A. 3954. Moussaoui testified that al-Masri told him to communicate with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (hereinafter “KSM”), the so-called “mastermind” of the planes operation.

In February 2001, Moussaoui arrived in the United States with $ 35,000 in cash and a fake business letter given to him by a JI member to use as cover for his presence in this country. He immediately traveled to Airman Flight School to begin his pilot training. Moussaoui contacted the Pan Am Flight Academy in May 2001 and was offered enrollment for $ 8,300, for classes beginning in mid-August 2001. Moussaoui sent the school a $ 1,500 deposit. Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi, an al Qaeda operative, [*276] first transmitted money to Bin al-Shibh in Germany, [**31] who in turn transmitted money to Moussaoui. Moussaoui informed KSM that he would be out of jet simulator training before
